Dr. Asken received the Bachelor of Arts With Honors and Master of Science degrees from Rutgers University and the Bachelor of Medical Science and Medical Doctor degrees from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. After serving as a Captain in the United States Army Medical Corps, Dr. Asken practiced family medicine for several years. He then trained at the New York University Skin and Cancer Institute and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Asken trained in laser surgery at the University of Cincinnati, Harvard University and St. Francis Hospital in New York and is certified in laser operative surgery. Dr. Asken further trained in cosmetic surgery in the United States and France, was certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Asken is a former Associate Clinical Professor at the New York Medical College and has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, University of California in Los Angeles, New York University and Boston University School of Medicine. He lectured at seminars given by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Northwestern University, University of Miami, Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Brown University School of Medicine, French Society of Aesthetic Medicine and French Society of Aesthetic Surgery in France.

Dr. Asken is a member of numerous national and international cosmetic surgery societies, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery as well as of the International Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Asken had his articles published in the United States, France and Japan and has been invited to conduct courses, give lectures and demonstrate his innovative surgical techniques in these countries as well as in Italy, Germany and Spain, where in March of 1995 he was the Honorary President of an International Symposium on Cosmetic Surgery.

He wrote two textbooks on liposuction surgery and fat transplantation and is co-author of The Face Book - The Pros and Cons of Facial Plastic Surgery prepared by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Asken contributed chapters to several textbooks on cosmetic surgery and is co-editor of the textbook Cosmetic Surgery of the Skin, now in its second edition, for which he wrote the chapters on facelifts and eyelid rejuvenation surgery and contributed photographs illustrating the technique of forehead and eyebrow lift.

Dr. Asken was Medical Director of the Cosmetic Surgery Center of Connecticut, in Westport, until he moved to Darien, Connecticut into a new and improved surgical facility. In 1986 he hosted and directed The First International Workshop on Liposuction and Fat Transplantation at his Center, which included facial and body contouring with liposuction surgery as well as the innovative technique of fat transplantation for correction of skin defects and for facial and body sculpting. Dr. Asken has taught physicians from this country, from all of Europe, as well as Japan, the Philippines, Australia, Singapore, Hong-Kong, New Zealand, Egypt, and South America who have come to learn new and improved techniques in cosmetic surgery.


On a more personal note...

Dr. Asken is blessed with 7 wonderful children. He is an accomplished cellist who has performed with several community orchestras, as well as being a fine artist and sculptor, working in several media.
